Tranquil, but flooded (via flickr). The flooding up here has been crazy. Hard to explain if you haven’t experienced it yourself. I never could have imagined this kind of thing, even though I thought Nebraska prepared me for every kind of weather.

Bacon Explosion

If you’re just here for the pictures, go ahead and scroll down. Tonight’s activities were inspired by BBQ Addicts and their post on Bacon Explosion. We didn’t know quite what to expect from it, either. We knew it’d be fatty and full of pork, from which we assumed it would be delicious, but couldn’t be certain. So we had to try it ourselves.

A quick trip to the store with Jeremy and we had the necessary supplies. It took about 30 minutes to piece it all together (including cooking extra bacon for the crumbling) and about 2 hours to cook in an oven (no one owns a smoker). We cooked at a slightly higher temperature than called for and finished it off with a bit of broiling to crisp up the outer bacon.

End result? Delicious. I don’t think any member of the assembled party had something bad to say about it. It was just bacon and pork and tasty.

You can view the full set of pictures here.
